Let’s talk about the dress code.
If you’ve been keeping up with my ongoing documentation of Macy and Joey’s story—How They Got Here—then you already know just how thrilled they are to celebrate with you, their favorite people. That said, they do have one humble (and, frankly, quite reasonable) request: look fabulous. The dress code for the big day is Cocktail Attire meets Garden Party—equal parts polished and playful, perfect for toasting love under the Colorado sky.
Here’s your official guide to what to wear on June 21, 2025 in Boulder:
The Vibe: Cocktail Party Meets Garden Party
Think of the dress code as cocktail attire that wandered through a meadow and decided to stay a while.
It’s festive. It’s celebratory. It’s “dress like you’re going to the best outdoor party of the summer” energy. We're talking:
- Dresses, jumpsuits, or separates in light, breathable fabrics. Florals and soft colors will feel right at home, but if you want to wear a dark green or a navy satin slip dress, I promise the trees won’t mind.
- Suits or blazer-and-trouser combos. Ties are optional. Crisp shirts and light layers are encouraged. Bonus points for linen, cotton, or anything that whispers "I vacation in Tuscany.”
- Footwear that gets it. You will be walking on grass, slight slopes, and possibly uneven terrain, so this is not the time for stilettos or ultra-thin heels. Ladies: block heels, wedges, or flats will be your best friends. Gents: something more elevated than sneakers, but less rigid than Oxfords. Think “wedding guest with common sense.”
The Venue: Outdoors, With a Side of Weather
The ceremony and reception will be outside, surrounded by Colorado beauty and—yes—actual weather. There will be plenty of tents and cover if it sprinkles (the couple is hoping for blue skies), but I recommend checking the forecast as the weekend approaches. In fact, you can do that here:
👉 Boulder Weather – Wunderground Forecast
If the temperature dips a bit after sunset (as it sometimes does in Boulder), a light jacket, wrap, or cardigan would not go unappreciated. You’ll thank me when the stars are out and the breeze kicks up.
TL;DR for the Overachievers:
- Dress code: Cocktail attire, garden party edition
- Location: Outdoor venue, expect grass and gentle slopes
- Shoes: Chic but practical (leave the stilettos at home)
- Weather: TBD, check the forecast the week of
- Vibe: Stylish, celebratory, and slightly sun-kissed
If you're still unsure what to wear, here's your guiding principle: Dress like you're about to toast two people you love on the happiest day of their lives—with style, comfort, and a little sparkle.
See you on the grass,
Nora
