Required Listening (v.5)

We spend a lot of time listening to music, discovering new tracks, and going to shows together. (Fun fact: our first date was actually at a punk show—read all about it in How They Got Here: Part Two)Right now, we’re deep in wedding prep mode—and getting seriously excited about one part in particular: the dancing. Our DJ is booked, the setlist is underway, and we’re counting down the days until we can all belt out bangers together on the dance floor.

Speaking of—here’s a fun story. A few weeks ago, we went to a show at Globe Hall, a cozy BBQ joint and music venue in Denver. Afterward, we wandered next door to Fort Greene for a nightcap, only to stumble upon a packed dance floor and an absolutely killer DJ set. We start dancing, of course. Macy looks through the crowd and says, “Wait—I think that’s our wedding DJ.” I’m like, “No way.” She asks the bouncer, who confirms it: that is our guy. So we consider this our final walkthrough—and he passed with flying colors.

To keep that energy building, we’re dropping one last playlist before the big day: Required Listening v5. This one is special.

Imagine it’s 11 p.m. at the wedding. The night’s winding down, but nobody wants to leave. So you all crowd around the DJ and shout: “Hey! Play the most self-indulgent music you can think of—we’re here for it!”

That’s this playlist. These are the tracks we’d play if we got an extra hour to just blast the songs we love most.

We’ve shared five playlists total leading up to the wedding, and this is our final installment. Think of it as a peek behind the curtain—a taste of the music that’s shaped us, and a warm-up for the party to come.

Thanks for listening and sharing in the buildup. We love you, and we cannot wait to see you on the dance floor.

Lots of love,
Macy and Joey
